The fights where all enemies have super high evade (50~) are really annoying to deal with. There were 1 or 2 fights that were really ridiculous, but those were not so much unintended difficulty imo as the evade system being really borked. I actually found all the companion loyalty questlines manageable going in blind, so not sure they actually have to be nerfed. Or put off the quest and go somewhere else (which is a pain, since I'm out in the middle of nowhere, with equipment that slows down movement rate and have already spent many in-game days on the expedition). In any case, it looks like I'll have to keep trying until I get lucky. It might have been nice if there were ways to partially heal between multiple battles within the same story, as I imagine most people take them on well before they have the full complement of companions and likely before they have advanced them beyond Prowess 2 (of all the companions, only Criftaa seems to have a straightforward set of personal quests). And no warnings as to which ones might involve multiple waves of foes. It helps when the enemies have poor hit rates but, eventually, attrition took its toll.įor a game that doesn't emphasize combat, there sure seems to be a lot of it in some missions. I was lucky that even though one of my companions (Finndurarth) went down in the 1st fight, the remaining 4 pulled through the second and even put a dent in the 3rd wave, before going down. So i did some other quests, then headed out to the calerus, with the Dread Reavers, after obtaining the shielding crystal.Īgain, I had to fight 3 waves of enemies in quick succession. Having to fight more than one wave of tough enemies in quick succession was too rigorous a challenge. I tried completing the Bug Hunt mission but found the final hive too overpowering. I had 5 companions, all of which were only at Prowess 2. So after hours and hours of trading (grinding), with only occasional diversion to nearby quests, I finally amassed around 800+ bross and decided that it was time to pursue other adventures.
